Raymond Carroll – writer/author

Raymond Carroll is the author of ‘Only Raising Dust On The Road’ – a serialised novel set in Thailand. A Scotsman, born in East Kilbride, Glasgow in 1970, he is married to Sunan – a Thai national, and has two Thai/Scottish children: a girl (16), and a boy (12). He currently resides in Scotland but previously lived and worked in Thailand for two years between 2002 and 2004.

In his younger years, Raymond has also lived and worked in Canada, California, Egypt, London (UK), the Channel Islands, and Taiwan. Back then he had no trade or specialized skills that helped him to travel and live and work abroad, but he was energetic and enthusiastic and was willing to give anything a try. As a result, Raymond has worked in a vast array of markets and industries throughout the world, ranging from sales jobs to construction to online entrepreneur and writing projects. Over the years, Raymond’s priorities have changed since having children, and he doesn’t travel as much as he would like to, but travel and writing are still two of his greatest passions.

Raymond’s time in Thailand changed his life forever and his novel is loosely based on how that change came about.

‘Only Raising Dust On The Road’ has been serialised into 4 novella length books.

Slim’s business partners: Sanjit – a South African-born Indian, and Connie – a white, Afrikaner Durbanite and Sanjit’s girlfriend, have recruited Winston (Sanjit’s South African Indian – ‘hood-rat’ – cousin) to be bartender. Can the mismatched motley-crew make this venture work? Nothing in Thailand is ever as it seems and dangers abound along the way.

The story is told from a multiple character ‘first person’ point of view and takes place in the late 1990’s.
